Keansburg Police Officer Charged

KEANSBURG NEW JERSEY POLICE OFFICER CHARGED WITH THE AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A INCAPACITATED WOMAN

     " Nicholas Thompson A Keansburg Special Law Enforcement Officer Was Charged On Tuesday With First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault Of An Unconscious Woman In January, 2021."

KEANSBURG, NJ.- On Tuesday, October 5, 2021 Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced that a Keansburg, New Jersey Police Officer has been Arrested and Criminally Charged with Sexually Assaulting an incapacitated woman earlier this year.


     Nicholas Thompson, 24, has been Charged with One Count of First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; One Count of Second Degree Sexual Assault; and One Count of Third Degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact.


     An investigation conducted by Members of The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office determined that the Sexual Assault occurred in a private residence, when the victim was unconscious and incapable of consent.


     Mr. Thompson, who was sworn in as Keansburg Patrol Officer last month, and at the time of the alleged sexual assault, Mr. Thompson was a Special Law Enforcement Officer. Mr. Thompson was arrested and taken into custody without incident on Monday, October 4, 2021 and remanded to The Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending his first appearance in Monmouth County State Superior Court in Freehold, New Jersey.


      Mr. Thompson has been suspended without pay from the Keansburg Police Department, pending the resolution of the Charges lodged against him.


      If convicted, Mr. Thompson will be subject to a sentencing exposure on The First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault of Twenty Years in New Jersey State Prison; On Second Degree Sexual Assault is Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison; and on Third Degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact is Three to Five Years in New Jersey State Prison. Mr. Thompson will subject to Parole Supervision for Life and subject to Megan's Law Registration Requirements.
