Clifton Man Arrested For Sexual Assault

CLIFTON NEW JERSEY MAN ARRESTED FOR THE AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A CHILD

     " Corey Ervin Of Clifton Was Arrested & Charged With First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault, Criminal Sexual Contact & Child Endangerment Offenses."

PATERSON, NJ.- On Tuesday, October 19, 2021 Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announced the Arrest of Corey Ervin, 44, of Clifton, New Jersey. 



     Mr. Ervin was Arrested on Monday, October 18, 2021 after an investigation conducted by The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit. Mr. Ervin has been Charged with One Count of First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; Two Counts of Second Degree Sexual Assault; One Count of Third Degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact; and One Count of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. 


     On September 8, 2021, The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office received information from The Division of Child Protection and Permanency regarding an 18-Year-Old Victim who disclosed being Sexually Assaulted by Mr. Ervin since the age of Twelve. The victim disclosed being assaulted by Mr. Ervin at a residence in Paterson, New Jersey and in a motor vehicle. 


     During the investigation, Prosecutor’s Office Detectives after interviewing the victim and multiple witnesses determined that the offenses had allegedly occurred, resulting in Mr. Ervin’s being formally Arrested and Charged.


     The sentencing exposure, if convicted on First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault is Ten to Twenty Years in New Jersey State Prison, with 85% term of service before parole eligibility pursuant to The No Early Release Act; on Second Degree Sexual Assault it is Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison with 85% term of service before parole eligibility pursuant to The No Early Release Act; on Third Degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact it is Three to Five years in New Jersey State Prison; and on Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child it is Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison.


     The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion for pretrial detention and is asking that Mr. Ervin be Detained in The Passaic County Jail pending the resolution of the case. The detention motion will be scheduled before a Superior Court Judge on a date and time to be determined by the Court.
