JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Thursday, October 7, 2021 Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced that at approximately 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, Members of The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Regional Collision Investigation Unit Arrested Magdy Botros, 51, of Bayonne, New Jersey for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision.
The Arrest followed an investigation into a March 24, 2021 Hit-and-Run incident in which he struck a Female Pedestrian causing serious injuries.
Mr. Botros was Arrested at The Office of The Hudson County Prosecutor in Jersey City, New Jersey without incident after he surrendered to Detectives. Mr. Botros has been Charged with One Count of Third Degree Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Collision resulting in Serious Bodily Injury.
Following his Arrest, Mr. Botros was released on a Summons Complaint and his first appearance is scheduled in Central Judicial Processing Court on October 28, 2021, in Jersey City, New Jersey.
On March 24, 2021, at approximately 9:10 p.m., Members of The Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of Palisade Avenue just south of Bowers Street in Jersey City on reports of a pedestrian struck with serious injuries.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 31-Year-Old Jersey City, New Jersey woman who was struck and seriously injured while crossing Palisade Avenue. The victim was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where she was treated for her injuries. The driver who struck the woman fled the scene.
The investigation identified the vehicle involved in the incident as a 2014 Toyota Camry which was operated at the time by Mr. Botros. He is also the registered owner of the vehicle.
