Two Bridgeton New Jersey Men Indicted

TWO BRIDGETON, NEW JERSEY MEN INDICTED IN THE MAY, 2013 ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY FATAL SHOOTING

     " Abdul Bailey & Austin Clark Of Bridgeton Have Been Indicted On Murder & Weapons Offenses In Connection With The Shooting Death Of William Clegg Of Atlantic City."

MAYS LANDING, NJ.- On Tuesday, September 14, 2021 Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill announced that a Grand Jury has returned an Indictment against two Bridgeton, New Jersey men on Murder and Weapons Charges in the 2013 Fatal Shooting of William Clegg, 21, of Atlantic City, New Jersey.


     The Grand Jury returned the Indictment against Abdul Bailey, 29, and Austin Clark, 27, Charging both each with First Degree Murder; First Degree Conspiracy to Commit Murder; Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. Mr. Bailey was additional Indicted on Second Degree Certain Persons not to Possess Weapons.


     On Saturday, May 4, 2021, at approximately 2:29 p.m., Members of The Atlantic City Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call on a report of a shooting in the area of 501 Indiana Avenue, in Atlantic City. 


     Upon arrival, Police Officers located William Clegg of Atlantic City lying on the sidewalk in front of 501 Indiana Avenue, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Clegg was immediately transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus, where he was pronounced deceased.


     The ensuing investigation revealed Mr. Bailey and Mr. Clark lured Mr. Clegg outside the convenience store at 501 Indiana Avenue. One individual waited on the sidewalk, while the other individual waited in the alleyway. As Mr. Clegg walked by, the individual shot him. Mr. Bailey was apprehended on October 20, 2021 in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Mr. Clark, already in custody was additional charged with the Murder of Mr. Clegg.
