PATERSON, NJ.- On Wednesday, September 15, 2021 Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announced the arrest of Narciso Alejandro, 22, of Paterson, New Jersey. Mr. Alejandro was arrested on Monday, September 13, 2021 after an investigation conducted by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.
Mr. Alejandro has been Charged with One Count of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; One Count of Fourth Degree Child Abuse and Neglect; and One Count of Contempt of Court.
On Friday, September 10, 2021 The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office received information from the Division of Child Protection and Permanency regarding a Four-Month-Old Child who arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey suffering from a number of broken ribs.
Special Victims Unit Detectives interviewed multiple witnesses and ultimately charged Mr. Alejandro with the above crimes for causing the injuries upon the child at a residence in Paterson, New Jersey during the month of August.
If convicted on the charges, The Sentencing Exposure on Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child is Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison; on Fourth Degree Child Abuse and Neglect it is up to Eighteen Months in New Jersey Prison; and on Fourth Degree Contempt of Court it is up to Eighteen Months in New Jersey State Prison.
Mr. Alejandro was processed on the Charges and was remanded to The Passaic County Jail. The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a Motion for Pretrial Detention which will be heard by a Superior Court judge this week.
