MONMOUTH COUNTY AUTHORITIES CHARGE AN ASBURY PARK MAN WITH THE BRUTAL ATTACK OF A 68-YEAR-OLD MAN

FREEHOLD, NJ.- On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey announced that an Asbury Park, New Jersey man has been Arrested and Charged for Hospitalizing a man by striking him in the head with a brick early Tuesday Morning.
On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at approximately 2:45 a.m., an Asbury Park Police Officer was on patrol when he noticed an adult male lying on the steps of Jersey Shore Adult Day Care Center, located on the 600 Block of Main Street.
Upon investigating, the Police Officer observed that the man, a 68-Year-Old Ocean County resident, was bleeding heavily from his head, and was unable to speak. The victim was immediately transported to an area hospital, where he received treatment for severe head injury.
An ensuing investigation by The asbury Police Department, in conjunction with The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office determined that Eduardo Martinez, 51, of Asbury Park, New Jersey was responsible for the Brutal Attack. Mr. Martinez was subsequently located and taken into custody without incident.
Mr. Martinez was formally Charged with First Degree Attempted Murder; and Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. Martinez was processed on the Charges and Lodged in The Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending his first appearance, and detention hearing in Monmouth County Superior Court in Freehold, New Jersey.
