Arrest Made In Passaic County Robbery

ARREST MADE IN FRIDAY'S KNIFE POINT ROBBERY IN POMPTON LAKES NEW JERSEY

     " Brian Tagliaferro & Simone Greco Both Of Pompton Lakes Have Been Charged With First Degree Robbery & Weapons Offenses In Connection With Convenience Store Robbery."

POMPTON LAKES, NJ.- On Saturday, September 18, 2021 Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Pompton Lakes Police Chief Derek Clark announce that based upon an investigation by The Pompton Lakes Police Department, Brian Tagliaferro, 32, of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, and Simone Greco, 29, of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey were arrested in relation to a robbery investigation that took place September 17, 2021, in the area of Ringwood Avenue and Willard Street in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. 



     Brian Tagliaferro is charged with First Degree Robbery; Third Degree Theft;  Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; Fourth Degree Certain Persons Not to Have Weapons; and Second Degree Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. Simone Greco is charged with Second Degree Conspiracy to Commit Robbery; First Degree Robbery; and Third Degree Theft.



     On Friday, September 17, 2021, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Members of The Pompton Lakes Police Department responded to a convenience store located in the area of Ringwood Avenue and Willard Street in Pompton Lakes on a report of a robbery. The investigation determined that a male suspect had robbed the store at knifepoint. No injuries were sustained during the incident.


     A short time later, police located Brian Tagliaferro and Simone Greco in the area of Willard Street and Ackerman Place in Pompton Lakes. Based upon the investigation, Brian Tagliaferro was identified as the actor who had robbed the store at knifepoint and Simone Greco was identified as an accomplice. They were both placed under arrest.


     If convicted, The Sentencing exposure for Brian Tagliaferro on First Degree Robber is Ten to Twenty Years New Jersey State Prison with 85% term of service before parole eligibility pursuant to The No Early Release Act and Five Years parole supervision; on Third Degree Theft it is Three to Five Years New Jersey State Prison; on Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose it is Three to Five Years New Jersey Prison; on Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon it is Eighteen Months New Jersey State Prison; and on Fourth Degree Certain Persons Not to Have Weapons it is Eighteen Months New Jersey State Prison.


     The sentencing exposure for Simone Greco on Second Degree Conspiracy to Commit Robbery is Five to Ten Years New Jersey State Prison with 85% term of service before parole eligibility pursuant to The No Early Release Act and Three Years parole supervision; on First Degree Robbery it is Ten to Twenty Years New Jersey State Prison with 85% term of service before parole eligibility pursuant to The No Early Release Act and Five Years parole supervision; and on Third Degree Theft it is Three to Five Years New Jersey State Prison.


     The State intends to file motions for pretrial detention that will be heard by a Superior Court Judge.
