KABUL, AFGHANISTAN,- The United States carried out an unmanned airstrike in Kabul, Afghanistan, as President Biden arrived at Dover, Delaware Air Force Base to meet with the families of the Thirteen U.S. Service Members killed in a suicide bombing attack at the airport last week.
After conflicting reports this morning, a U.S. Official confirmed the airstrike in Kabul.
Citing the Taliban, The Associated Press reported the airstrike struck a suicide bomber in car ladened with explosives as it was making its way to the Hamid Karzai International Airport.
The U.S. Embassy in Kabul in an alert, warned of a specific credible threat, and urged those hoping to flee the country to leave the airport. Biden said on Saturday, The Kabul Airport was highly likely to be the target of another attack before the August 31, 2021 withdrawal deadline set by the Taliban.
U.S Forces carried out the drone strike sunday against the imminent ISIS-K Threat to the airport in Kabul, the military said in a statement.
" We are confident we successfully hit the target," said Navy Captain Bill Urban, a spokesman for U.S. Central Command. " Significant secondary explosions from the vehicle indicated the presence of a substantial amount of explosive materials."
