Philadelphia Man Convicted In Atlantic County

PHILADELPHIA PENNSYLVANIA MAN CONVICTED IN 2019 FATAL SHOOTING IN ATLANTIC CITY NEW JERSEY

     " Avery Bracey Of Philadelphia Has Been Convicted In The Robbery & Fatal Shooting Of 21-Year-Old KyLee Haynes At The Sunset Inn In Atlantic City In 2019."

MAYS LANDING, NJ.- On Friday, August 27, 2021 Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill announced after a six-day trial before The Honorable W. Todd Miller an Atlantic County Jury convicted a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania man for the January 2019, Fatal Shooting of 21-year-old Kylee Haynes of Atlantic City, New Jersey.



     On Friday, August 27, 2021, The Jury returned a Guilty Verdict against Avery Bracey on the following counts: Two Counts of First Degree Robbery; Third Degree Criminal Restraint; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Handgun; Four Counts of Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; First Degree Aggravated Manslaughter; First Degree Felony Murder; Fourth Degree Aggravated Assault; Third Degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance; First Degree Attempted Witness Tampering, By Use Of Threat; and Second Degree Attempted Witness Tampering, By Use Of Bribery. Mr. Bracey is scheduled to be sentenced on October 19, 2021 in State Superior Court.


     On Friday, January 4, 2021 Members of The Atlantic City Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call for a man being shot at The Sunset Inn.


     Upon arrival, Police Officers located KyLee Haynes, 21, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, suffering from gunshot wounds. Mr. Haynes was immediately transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus where he was pronounce deceased.


     Investigators were able to broadcast a description of the suspect in the fatal shooting. Investigators subsequently responded to a ShotSpotter Activation in the area of Florida Avenue within The City, and located a male matching the description of the suspect sought in The Sunset Inn shooting. Mr. Bracey was taken into custody, a subsequent search of Mr. Bracey uncovered a loaded firearm on his person.


     The investigation continued when a victim walked into AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his leg and reported that he sustained the injury by being shot on Florida Avenue. Bracey was later identified as the shooter in that crime as well.


     The investigation was conducted by The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office in conjunction with The Atlantic City Police Department.
