A MONTCLAIR NEW JERSEY WOMAN HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH IMPERSONATING A VETERINARIAN

TOTOWA, NJ.- On Monday, August 23, 2021 Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Totowa Police Chief Carmen Veneziano announced the arrest of Alia Muslih, 39, of Montclair, New Jersey for running an unlicensed Veterinary clinic at 140 Furler Street in Totowa, New Jersey.
The arrest was made without incident on Friday, August 20, 2021. On the same date a search warrant was executed at the 140 Furler Street in Totowa by Members of The Passaic County Prosecutor's Office Financial Crimes Unit and The Totowa Police Department with assistance from the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Division of Consumer Affairs, and the Paterson and Clifton Animal Control.
The clinic, named Totowa Animal Hospital, was run out of Seven Star Pet Resort. Alia Muslih, who ran both Totowa Animal Hospital and Seven Star Pet Resort created and reinforced a False Impression that she was a Licensed Veterinarian. The New Jersey Board of Veterinary Medicine indicates that Muslih is not a Licensed Veterinarian, and that Totowa Animal Hospital is not a Licensed Veterinary Clinic.
Muslih has been Charged with Second Degree Theft by Deception; Second Degree Corporate Misconduct; Third Degree Animal Cruelty; and Second Degree Unlicensed Possession of Prescription Drugs.
Ms. Muslih if convicted on the charges will face the potential sentencing exposure on Second Degree Offence is punishable by Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison. A Third Degree Offense is punishable by Three to Five Years in New Jersey State Prison.
Following her first appearance on Saturday, August 21, 2021, Muslih was released on Pre-Trial monitoring pending the disposition of the charges against her, on the condition that she is restrained from returning to 140 Furler Street, Totowa, New Jersey.
