CAMDEN, NJ.- On Monday, August 16, 2021 Acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. Honig announced that a Cumberland County, New Jersey man yesterday in Federal Court admitted his role in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.


     Joan Benitez, 41, of Milleville, New Jersey pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Robert B. Kugler in Camden Federal Court to an information charging him with One Count of Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute at least 50 Grams of Methamphetamine.


     According to documents and statements in the case made in court, on numerous occasions between January 22, 2020 and September 9, 2020, Mr. Benitez sold Crystallize Methamphetamine, as part of a conspiracy to distribute those drugs. Mr. Benitez Distributed approximately 1.7 Kilograms of Methamphetamine in furtherance of the conspiracy.


     The Count of Conspiracy to which Mr. Benitez Pleaded Guilty is punishable by a maximum sentence of Life in Prison and a maximum financial penalty of $10 Million. Sentencing in this matter has been scheduled for December 20, 2021.
