Keansburg Man Taken In To Custody

KEANSBURG NEW JERSEY MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AFTER SIX HOUR STANDOFF WITH MONMOUTH COUNTY AUTHORITIES

     " After A Six Hour Standoff With Police, Anthony Hoff Of Keansburg, New Jersey Was Taken Into Custody Without Injury Thanks To Monmouth County Authorities."

KEANSBURG, NJ.- On Saturday, August 21, 2021 Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey and Keansburg Police Chief Wayne Davis announced, after a long six hour standoff with Police, a Keansburg, New Jersey man surrendered to authorities.



     On Friday, August 20, 2021, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Members of The Keansburg Police Department responded to the residence of Anthony Hoff in the area of Seely and Carr Avenues in Keansburg, New Jersey on a report for a welfare check from a concerned family member of Mr. Hoff.


     Upon arrival, Police Officer encountered Mr. Hoff who became belligerent and at times threatening Police Officers while barricading himself inside of the residence.


     After Mr. Hoff refused exit his home, The Monmouth County Emergency Response Team, The Monmouth County Rapid Deployment Force, Members of The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office, Keansburg Police Department and surrounding Law Enforcement Agencies responded to the scene at approximately 4:30 p.m.


     Over the next six hours Mr. Hoff continued to threaten Police Officers with the use of a firearm, and at one point throwing a knife at Police Officers. Finally after hours of negotiations by Monmouth County Authorities, Mr. Hoff, at 9:45 p.m. surrendered and was taken into custody without incident. Mr. Hoff was transported to an area hospital for an evaluation.


     Mr. Hoff was formally Charged with Third Degree Terroristic Threats; Third Degree Burglary; Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Fourth Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; Fourth Degree Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer; and a Disorderly Persons Offense for Criminal Mischief.


     Prosecutor Linskey credited the Members of County and Local Law Enforcement Agencies for their diligent efforts in bring the situation to a peaceful resolution. " I thank the responding officers for their efforts in doing all that was possible to de-escalate this situation. Because of their professional actions, this incident ending without injury," Prosecutor Linskey said.


" The Rules Of The Court Require Us To Include A Statement, Which States: The Charges Contained In This Publication Are Merely Accusations And The Defendant And Or Defendants Are Presumed Innocent Unless And Until Proven Guilty Beyond Reasonable Doubt."
