CAMDEN COUNTY AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATING SUNDAY AUGUST 15, 2021 EARLY MORNING SHOOTING DEATH IN THE CITY OF CAMDEN

CAMDEN, NJ.- On Sunday, August 15, 2021 Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez announced that Detectives are actively investigating an early morning fatal shooting in Camden, New Jersey.
On Sunday, August 15, 2021, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Members of The Camden County Police Department responded to the area of Kaighn Avenue and Rose Street in Camden, New Jersey for a report of a multi round ShotSpotter Activation.
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a victim who had sustained a serious gunshot wound, later identified as Thomas Smith, 67, of Camden, New Jersey. Mr Smith was immediately transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injury, and was pronounced deceased.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Detectives are continuing to investigate the events that led to the shooting.
