LODI, NJ.- On Friday, July 9, 2021, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of Michael Caruso, 32, of Lodi, New Jersey on Charges of Distribution and Possessing Child Pornography. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love.
On Thursday, July 8, 2021 Members of The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Cyber Crimes Unit responded to the residence of Michael Caruso during the course of a months long Internet Child Pornography investigation. The investigation revealed that Caruso used the internet to view, download, possess, and distribute digital files depicting nude and or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children.
As a result of the investigation Michael Caruso was arrested on Thursday, July 8, 2021 in Paramus, New Jersey and charged with One Count of Second Degree Distribution of Child Pornograpy and One Count of Third Degree Possession of Child Pornography.
Caruso was released on summons pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
Bergen County Prosecutor Musella would like to acknowledge the efforts of The Lodi Police Department for assisting in the investigation and the Lyndhurst Police Department which participates in The Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
" The Rules Of The Court Require Us To Include A Statement, Which States: The Charges Are Merely Accusations And The Defendant And Or Defendants Are Presumed Innocent Unless And Until Proven Guilty Beyond Reasonable Doubt."
