Democrats Propose $3.5 Trillion Budget

SENATE DEMOCRATS ANNOUNCE $3.5 TRILLION BUDGET AGREEMENT

" Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer Announced That Senate Democrats Have A $3.5 Trillion Budget Agreement That Would Prioritize Agenda Items Championed By President Joe Biden."

July 14, 2021 By Art Fletcher & Morell Morand Reporting For: Englebrook Independent News,

WASHINGTON, DC.- The $3.5 Trillion plan, which has only been agreed upon by Democratic Members of the Senate Budget Committee, would fund efforts to combat climate change, improve infrastructure and broadband internet, support child and elder care as well as other Democratic agenda items, according to the Associated Press.

The budget could possibly pass through the Upper Chamber of Congress without needing approval of the fifty Republican Members. In order to do this, the budget would have to be presented as a budget resolution, and all fifty Members of the Senate's Democratic Caucus have to vote in favor of it.

It is unclear if Democratic West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin or Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) will support the budget. Both Senators have opposed previous efforts to pass large legislative items without bipartisan support. It is still unclear if the proposal will earn support of the Moderates who have made clear they have deep reservations about spending trillions more after a year of emergency spending during the pandemic.

Biden will join Senate Democrats today in an effort to begin the sales pitch that will be needed to win over skeptical Democrats in the weeks ahead.  Progressive Democrats have pushed party leaders to put forward a larger legislative package through budget reconciliation, meaning under Senate Rules it could be passed through the Senate with only Democratic votes.

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said The House would not take up The Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal, until the Senate passes a more sweeping package through budget reconciliation.
