SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ.- Middlesex County authorities announced today that a man has been arrested and charged in an early morning knife attack of a woman, who was known to him.
Authorities reported, Daniel Ortega, 32, of South Plainfield, New Jersey has been charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
According to authorities, at 1:21 a.m., this morning police responded to a residence on Clinton Avenue, following a report of an assault. Upon their arrival, authorities found a female victim, who sustained multiple stab wounds.
An investigation conducted by Detective Joseph Glowacki of The South Plainfield Police Department and Detective Mark Morris of The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office determined that Ortega stabbed the woman.
Police said, the victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
Ortega was similar taken to a hospital where he remains in police custody, after being treated for cuts.
