TIMES SQUARE, NY.- A 21-year-old man was shot in the back in Times Square late Sunday afternoon.
The man a 21-year-old Marine, was shot in the area of 46th Street and 7th Avenue, according to the NYPD. A 911 Emergency call came in just before 5:30 p.m. Authorities report the injured man was not the intended target.
Several men were reported to be involved in a dispute that escalated, when one of the men pulled out a handgun and started firing, striking the 21-year-old man, Police reported. The man was with his family outside a Hotel when he was struck by the stray bullet. The man is expected to make a full recovery.
This morning New York City Police released a video of the alleged gunman.
Yesterday's shooting marks the second time a tourist has been struck by gunfire in less than two months. In early May another shooting broke out between two men in Times Square, wounding three people including a 4-year-old child.
