A 71-YEAR-OLD PATERSON MAN HAS BEEN FORMALLY INDICTED ON SEXUAL ASSAULT CHARGES

HALEDON, NJ.- Today, June 22, 2021, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announced that Muniru Owe, 71, of Paterson, New Jersey has been Indicted on Multiple Counts of Sexual Offenses against two children.
A Passaic County Grand Jury has returned Indictment No. 21-06-00250-I, charging Mr. Owe for Sexual Offenses that took place at a residence in Haledon, New Jersey from June 2000 through June 2009. Mr. Owe was Indicted on One Count of Second Degree Sexual Assault, One Count of Second Degree Attempted Sexual Assault, Two Counts of Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and One Count of Fourth Degree Criminal Sexual Contact.
The sentencing exposure on Second Degree Sexual Assault is Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison with 85% term of service before parole eligibility pursuant to The No Early Release Act; on Second Degree Attempted Sexual Assault is Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison with 85% term of service before parole eligibility pursuant to The No Early Release Act; on Second Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child is Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison, and on Fourth Degree Criminal Sexual Contact is up to Eighteen Months in New Jersey State Prison. If convicted Mr. Owe will be subject to Parole Supervision for Life and Megan's Law registration.
Mr. Owe is currently on pretrial release pending the adjudication of this matter. Mr.Owe is scheduled for arraignment on July 13, 2021 before The Honorable Imre Karaszegi, J.S.C.
