ELIZABETH MAN CHARGED IN BLOOMFIELD AND LIVINGSTON BURGLARIES
" Elizabeth Man Charged With Burglary In Connection To A Breakin At City Eatery."

BLOOMFIELD, NJ.- Bloomfield Police reported, on Saturday May 22, 2021, at around 4:42 a.m., Police Officers responded to a report of a burglary at Italia's Pizzeria located at 48 Washington Street, within the City.
Upon arrival at the location, Officers discovered that the front door glass had been broken, and inside the establishment, Police observed the cash register had been broken into.
Police search the interior of the pizzeria for potential suspects, no suspects were found.
Police reported, the owner of the establishment confirmed that twenty dollars had been taken from the cash register. Further Bloomfield Police Crime Scene Technicians recovered droplets of blood in the area of the broken door.
Detectives recovered video surveillance from the scene, which showed a male suspect stop his vehicle at the intersection of Bloomfield Avenue and Washington Street. The male and another unidentified individual exit the vehicle, and pickup what appeared to be a large rock, and then smash the glass on the front door, and enter the premises.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives were able to identify a suspect and the vehicle used in the burglary. The suspect was identified as Paul Crotty, 37, of Elizabeth, New Jersey.
According to Police, Mr. Crotty was operating a 2007 silver Acura, displaying Pennsylvania License Plates at the time of incident.
Livingston Police had also been looking for the same vehicle and suspect, in connection to a similar burglary, within their jurisdiction.
Bloomfield Police working along with Livingston Police, were able to secure arrest warrants for Mr. Crotty, Police Officials reported.
On Friday May 28,2021 authorities located Mr. Crotty and his vehicle operating in the City of Newark, a motor vehicle stop was executed, and Crotty was taken into custody. Crotty was charged Burglary, Theft, and Criminal Mischief, he was processed by Bloomfield Police then transported to The Essex County Correctional Facility, pending his first court appearance.
