Clifton Man Detained On Child Pornography Offenses

 A 57-YEAR-OLD CLIFTON, NEW JERSEY MAN HAS BEEN DETAINED ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES

     " Paul Rusin Of Clifton, New Jersey Has Been Detained To Await Trial On Possessing & Distribution Charges Of Child Pornography Charges."

CLIFTON, NJ.- On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnick announced the Pretrial Detention of Paul Rusin, 57, of Clifton, New Jersey. Mr. Rusin was arrested without incident on June 22, 2021, after an investigation conducted by The Passaic County Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.



     Mr. Rusin has been Charged with Two Counts of Third Degree Possession of Child Pornography; Two Counts of Second Degree Distribution of Child Pornography; and Two Counts of Storing or Maintaining Child Pornography on a File Sharing Program.


     The Sheriff's Office ICAC Task Force began an investigation into an individual, later identified as Mr. Rusin, who was using the Internet to Obtain, Distribute, and Maintain Electronic Files depicting the Sexual Exploitation or Abuse of Children under the age of eighteen years old.



     The investigation revealed that Mr. Rusin stored Child Pornography on both Flash Drive and a Cloud Based Account. The images and videos recovered, depicted nude children, ranging in the age from approximately a few months old to 10 years old, engaging in Sexual Acts.


     The sentencing exposure on Third Degree Possession of Child Pornograpy is Three to Five Years in New Jersey State Prison; on Second Degree Distribution of Child Pornography is Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison; and on Second Degree Storing or Maintaining Child Pornography on a File Sharing Program is Five to Ten Years in New Jersey State Prison. If convicted Mr. Rusin is also subjected to Parole Supervision for Life and Megan's Law Registration Requirements.


     At a Detention Hearing on Monday, June 28, 2021, The Honorable Marybel Mercado-Ramirez, J.S.C. Granted the State's Motion for pretrial detention of Mr. Rusin.
