Potential Summer Crime Surge.

AS CRIME RATES CONTINUE CLIMB, CITIES NATIONWIDE BRACE FOR SUMMER SURGE IN VIOLENCE.

" With Continued Calls To Defund  Police Departments, & With Covid Restrictions Being Lifted, Cities Throughout The Country Brace For A Surge In Crime."

As violent crime continues to increase in an ever alarming rate throughout the country, Police departments in New York City and other major cities across the United States are bulking up patrols and implementing new tactics to prepare for what they say could be a potentially record breaking summer, as first reported by The Wall Street Journal on Saturday.

With states nationwide lifting Covid-19 restrictions, as well as more people gathering outside, as the warmer weather increases, the likelihood of more shootings, as well as less-serious offences will increase, officials stated.

Many crimes, including violent ones, normally rise during the summer months. Gun purchases have also risen during the Covid-19 Pandemic, and cities have seen an increase in guns being used in crimes, according to the report.

Shootings and homicides in major U.S. cities are once again on the rise this year, after a sharp increase last year.

In the last three months of 2020, homicides increased by 32.2 percent in cities with a population of at least one million, according to The Federal Bureau of Investigation's quarterly Uniform Crime Report.

" We're coming out of the Pandemic, life is starting again and more people are going to be out on the street," Director James Shea, Director of Public Safety for Jersey City, New Jersey, was quoted by The Journal.

As the summer months are approaching, and with many cities and communities governments continued rhetoric in  the defunding of police departments, not only should police departments be bracing for an increase in crime, but so shall many of residents across the nation.
