NEW YORK CITY PRIDE PARADE ORGANIZERS BAN THE NYPD FROM ITS EVENTS UNTIL 2025

" Instead Of Stuffing His Face With Fries, And His Continued Calls In Defunding The Police, NYC's Mayor De Blasio Needs To Stop His Rhetoric."

With Saturday's announcement from organizers of the New York City's Pride events, that they are banning Police and other Law Enforcement from marching in their huge annual parade, until at least 2025. Further they will also seek to keep on-duty officers a block away from the celebration of LGBTQ and history.

In a statement, New York City Pride urged members of Law Enforcement to " acknowledge their harm and to correct course moving forward."

" The sense of safety that law enforcement is meant to provide, can instead be threatening, and at times dangerous, to those in our community who are most often targeted with excessive force and or without reason," the group said.

The group will also increase the event's security budget to boost the presence of community-based security and first responders, while reducing the police departments presence.

With the recent increase in crimes nationwide, hate crimes are reportedly on the rise too, according to The Federal Bureau of Investigation, and incidents directed toward the LGBTQ community made up roughly 17 percent of those reported.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation's hate crime statistics from 2016 to 2019 - the most recent statistics available- show an increase from 1,076 to 1,195 hate crime incidents targeted on the basis of Sexual Orientation. Overall hate crimes have increased from 6,121 incidents in 2016 to 7,314 incidents in 2019.

In New York City, hate crimes have continued to rise, at an ever increasing rate. The NYC Pride's stance in banning NYPD from this year's event might be an error in judgement.

Word of the ban came out on Friday when The Gay Officers Action League said in a release, It was disheartened by the decision.

The group called the ban an " abrupt about face ", and said the decision " to placate some of the activists in our community shameful."

Mayor De Blasio needs to stop the cutting of the NYPD's operation development, and instead of trying to bribe NYC resident with french fries and burgers, to getting vaccinated. He needs to rebuild confidence between the residents of the city and the nation's largest Police Department, the NYPD.
