TRENTON, NJ.- Last Friday, following an investigation, a 43-year-old Mercer County, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with allegedly sexually assaulting a child back in 2021.

According to Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey, on Friday, June 13, 2025, Irin Green, 43, of Trenton, New Jersey, was taken into custody and formally charged with one count of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; and second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Green was taken into custody on Friday, June 13, 2025, in Trenton, New Jersey, by Detectives of the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit and the Trenton Police Department.

Following being processed on the charges, Green was remanded to the Mercer County Correctional Center, pending future court proceedings in Mercer County Superior Court. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office has filed a motion with the court to detain Green pending trial.

The charges stem from an investigation that began early this month, when the child's mother and the child victim reported to Police Officers that Green had allegedly sexually assaulted the child back in 2021, inside a Trenton, New Jersey, residence.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Sherika Salmon of the Mercer County Special Victims Unit at (609) 960-3119 or Detective Michael Staton at (609) 989-6350, or information can be emailed to mcposvu@mercercounty.org. All calls and emails will be kept confidential.

"The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt."
