Two Trenton, New Jersey Brothers Charged On Friday

MERCER COUNTY CHILD PORNOGRAPHY INVESTIGATION ENDS WITH TWO ARRESTS, COCAINE, HANDGUN, AND CASH SEIZED

     "One Brother Charged With Possession Of Child Pornography & The Other Brother Charged With Weapons & Narcotics Offenses."

TRENTON, NJ.- On Friday, following a Months-Long Investigation into Internet Child Pornography, Two Trenton, New Jersey Brothers were Taken into Custody and Formally Charged, and Detectives Seized Cocaine, a Handgun, and $10,480. in Cash, Mercer County Authorities reported.



     According to Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri, in November 2023, Detectives of The Mercer County Internet Crimes Against Children received information from The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an Individual within Mercer County was Uploading Digital Images depicting The Sexual Exploitation or Abuse of a Child. An Investigation was Launched and Detectives were able to Identify Marcus Roberts, 32, of Trenton, New Jersey as The Suspect.


     On Friday, February 16, 2024, Members of The Mercer County Tactical Response Team, with the assistance of The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office and The Department of Homeland Security Trenton Investigations Division Executed a Court Authorized Search Warrant at the home of Mr. Roberts. During The Search, Multiple Electronic Devices were Seized and Marcus Roberts was Taken into Custody and Formally Charged with One Count of Third Degree Possession of Child Pornography. 



     During The Search, Detectives also uncovered approximately Fifty-Five Grams of Suspected Cocaine, a Loaded 9mm Semi-Automatic Handgun, and $10, 480. in Cash in a Bedroom belonging to Jared Roberts, 36, Marcus' Brother. Jared Roberts was Taken into Custody and Formally Charged with Weapons and Narcotics Offenses.


     The Two were each Processed on The Charges and were Remanded to The Mercer County Correctional Facility pending Future Court Proceedings in Mercer County Superior Court. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office has Filed a Pretrial Detention Motion to have The Brothers both Detained pending the Resolution of The Charges Filed Against them.
