21 YEAR OLD PERTH AMBOY MAN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH THE FEBRUARY 11, 2022 FATAL SHOOTING

PERTH AMBOY, NJ.- On Wednesday, February 16, 2022 Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Acting Perth Amboy Police Chief Lawrence Cattano announced that a Perth Amboy man has been Charged with last week's Shooting Death of Jonathan Molina, 22, of Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
On Tuesday, February 15, 2022, Christopher Hernandez-Velasquez, 21, of Perth Amboy was Arrested and Charged with One Count of First Degree Murder; One Count of Second Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Second Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and Third Degree Hindering Apprehension along with other Related Offenses.
On Friday, February 11, 2022, at approximately 5:24 p.m., Members of The Perth Amboy Police Department responded to a area along the Railroad Tracks near New Brunswick Avenue on a report of a Shooting. Upon arrival, Police Officers located a male victim, later identified as Jonathan Molina, 22, of Perth Amboy having sustained a Gunshot Wound.
Mr. Molina was immediately transported to a nearby Hospital where he succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased.
A swift moving investigation by Middlesex County Authorities led to Mr. Hernandez-Velasquez being identified a Suspect and the individual Responsible for The Murder of Mr. Molina. Mr. Hernandez-Velasquez is currently in custody at The Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center. The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office has filed a Motion to have Mr. Hernandez-Velasquez detained pending the resolution of the Charges Against him.
